People are always clamoring for more. More rules so that everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing. More training so that those people will follow the rules. More oversight, so we can enforce these rules. More, more, more.
The question then becomes, does more really work? Does pushing more, dictating more, mandating more, compelling more actually do anything? Will people actually do what they’re supposed to?
Simple enough answer to this question: They will if they want to.
We can’t legislate, dictate, or decree quality. People that want to do the best job possible are already doing it.
And the rest of the people?
Well, always remember that people get what they pay for, no matter what the rules.
