We’ve all heard the expression “jack of all trades but master of none.” It’s meant to describe someone who can do many things, but doesn’t excel at any of them.
It would be great if we could be a master of all trades, but there’s not enough time in the day to learn the skills needed for that feat.
Knowing that there are certainly other business owners out there who have skills that we simply don’t possess, the question them becomes what do we do when a potential client asks us to perform one of these tasks?
Do we care enough about the wellbeing of our customers to point them in the right direction, passing along their business (and their money) to another company, or do we care so much about the money that we limp along, making a half-assed attempt to provide a service we’re not fully equipped to perform?
How we answer that question shows us exactly where our priorities lie: in service to our clients or in service to our bank account.
Without knowledge, action is useless…
