Many of us have complex jobs. We’ve got to translate the vast amount of information that we’ve accumulated over the years and package it up so that our clients will be able to understand the points we’re trying to convey.
That’s the essence of our job: to be able to make someone (who doesn’t have our level of subject matter knowledge) comprehend exactly what it is we’re trying to say, which is often difficult at best.
Some may say that we’ve got to “dumb-down” our presentation; make it idiot-proof for everyone to understand.
A more exciting idea may be to get better clients: ones who will be able to appreciate what it is we know and have the wherewithal to take appropriate action on our instructions.
Exciting, indeed.
