Becoming a Dinosaur

Complacency. It can signify the end of a career.

I was going to let you know what complacency means, but I really didn’t think I should have to look it up for you…

The Cambridge dictionary defines complacency as “A feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder.” This feeling is something that every successful person must face, and that every successful person who wants to become even more successful must figure out how to overcome.

We may think that we’re the best (insert your profession here) that’s ever walked this earth, but if we’re complacent and stop improving, time (and our competition) will pass us by.

Think about that brand new car you just bought. It’s got everything: heated seats, adaptive cruise control, a 10″ touch screen, automatic high beams, and automated parallel parking. It’s the most advanced thing that money can buy!

Today.

Now think about the features that cars will have 10 years from now. It’s hard to even imagine how much more advanced those cars will be, as science progresses, exciting things are discovered, and new technology rolls out.

And your top-of-the-line new car? Well, it’ll look like a dinosaur.

That’s exactly how we’ll look to our clients if we don’t keep up with the times. It’s imperative that we keep learning and stay current with new ideas and innovations.

Don’t be complacent.

Don’t become a dinosaur.
