It’s easy to think we’re doing worse than everyone else. Hell, social media is happy to reinforce this belief 24/7. We’re always running behind, trying to catch up to some imaginary goal that’s always right beyond our reach.
That coworker, that business, that relative, that industry, that stranger is doing better than I am, and I’ve got to catch up.
What if we just changed our point of reference? What, if instead of measuring our success against someone or something else, we simply measured ourselves against ourselves?
What if we chose to raise our standards, not because we’re looking to catch up with someone else, but simply because it makes sense for us in this moment?
Living a life based on our own judgement and goals makes a lot more sense than chasing after someone else.
After all, no one knows us better than we do.
